Cricket Wicket Seminar-MCG     21 July 2010

This was a great day as over 300 congregated in the Olympic Rooms at the MCG for our annual wicket seminar. Cricket pitch preparation book

Basic guide to turf cricket pitch preparation (PDF 8.25mg)                                                                                                                            This book was written By John Shannon (Turf Management teacher NMIT and former Premier cricket player) and is a good basic guide to turf pitch preparation. In 1986, John Shannon was employed by the City of Camberwell (now Boroondara) and prepared pitches at local and sub district level. He also worked on pitches in England, and on golf courses in Melbourne and Scotland.                                                             John played over 200 games of Premier Cricket and was also wicket keeper/opening batsmen/captain coach for North Melbourne. At this time, John was selected for the Essendon team of the century and is a life member of Essendon. For two years, John was a member of the Victorian State Squad and played numerous second eleven games. He has played at club level in Yorkshire, Leicestershire and Scotland.                     This playing experience has given John an appreciation and understanding of what makes a good pitch and for the past eleven years, John has been teaching Turf Management at NMIT. This training book was written to assist people with little or no experience in cricket pitch preparation to prepare a suitable playing surface.
